PokerStars named Online Poker Operator of the Year
(by Brad Willis on February 5, 2013 7:08 AM)

PokerStars does a lot of things on a lot of different platforms, but its bread and butter, its wheelhouse, its raison d'etre...well, that's online poker.

So, perhaps, then it is no great surprise that last night the International Gaming Awards honored PokerStars with the "Online Poker Operated of the Year" award. PokerStars was among 15 nominees for the distinction of the being the best global poker operator.

"This has been a year of great achievement for PokerStars, and this award is recognition of the hard work and dedication of our employees around the world who are setting the standard for quality in the industry," said Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars Head of Corporate Communications.

If there was any question what earned PokerStars this year's award, one only need look at the innovations and achievements over the past year.
  • PokerStars Mobile app, allowing players to play anytime, anywhere
  • Zoom Poker, enabling players to play poker faster and more easily
  • PokerStars.EU, a new regulated license in Malta
  • PokerStars.DK, a new regulated license in Denmark
  • PokerStars.ES, a new regulated license in Spain
  • Boom!, allowing players to easily share poker hands to social media networks
  • Acquisition of Full Tilt Poker and successful resolution of US legal issues
  • Introducing new audiences to poker with Rafa Nadal
  • MicroMillions, a low-stakes online tournament series launched in March
  • Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP), complementing the existing industry-leading World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) and Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP)

If there was any question what earned PokerStars this year's award, one only need look at the innovations and achievements over the past year.

Innovation? Bitcoin is the real innovation. Sorry PokerStar but I can't see any innovation in this list. This is like a bank clamming to be innovative because they have a facebook page.
